Mike Rounds And The Big Lie: Ending Waste, Fraud, And Abuse

If I understand Republicans correctly, they view government as being filled with "waste, fraud, and abuse." They contend that if government has any legitimate reason to exist, these irregularities must be eliminated. Further, they claim that because Republicans fulminate the two prior contentions, they deserve to be elected to whatever board, commission, legislature, or executive office they seek.

EB-5 may be a complicated mess, but it's a prime example of wasting millions and abusing any system of adequate checks and balances. Whether the legal definition of fraud occurred may be an open question, but the whole affair has the stench of corruption.

EB-5 occurred under Mike Rounds watch. Republicans allege ending "waste, fraud, and abuse" is their raison d'ĂȘtre. If a Republican enabled such practices rather than ended them,,one would hope voters would end that Republican's, in this case Mike Rounds, career.

Government is a lot of waste, fraud, and abuse.

EB-5 (a federal program) and GOED and a bazillion other similar programs sponsored by politicians of every stripe are vehicles for such waste, fraud, and abuse.

How would voting for either Pressler or Weiland solve that problem, though?

It won't.

But a GOP majority in congress might just slow it down, even if individual congressmen and senators leave something to be desired.

Rounds has not proven faithful in the small things. There is no way he should be trusted at the next level.

Pressler has a record of acting with integrity. Rounds is either too cavalier too care or lacks integrity necessary to earn a vote. Weiland, to the best of my knowledge, has no skeletons.

I disagree with the first assertion.

And with the second.

And also with the third.

Weiland seems to have a certain integrity, I'll grant that, but it is an integrity in service to principles of governance I find highly objectionable.

EB-5, a budget mess, the love of flying for personal reasons on the taxpayer dime, putting more family members than usual on the government payroll are more than enough examples of not being faithful in the small things.

Pressler turned down a bribe.

I understand conservatives objections to Weiland. I don't understand how those objections justify a vote for Rounds instead of Howie or Pressler or no one.
